Praying With The Bowery Mission & Kids With A Promise

At The Bowery Mission & Kids With A Promise, we believe in the power of prayer. We believe the root problems of homeless and poverty are spiritual, and so any solutions must address spiritual needs. As our President, Ed Morgan, states: “Recovery is an affair of the heart. We look at recovery of the heart as well as the body and the mind. When the heart is changed, the recovery is permanent."

We Are Praying for You

Each week, The Bowery Mission & Kids With A Promise staff meets to pray for our supporters.  If you would like us to pray for you and your needs – or the needs of others close to you – please use our contact form.

Won’t You Pray With Us?

For some specific ways to pray, we provide a Weekly Prayer Calendar below.

Weekly Prayer Calendar

Sunday
This week, men, women and children will come to The Bowery Mission & Kids With A Promise with a variety of needs. Please pray that we will be able to meet both their physical and spiritual needs in a way that demonstrates God's love for them.

Monday
Please pray for our Compassionate Care programs – for the provision of donated food and clothing, for the volunteers who lead chapel services, serve meals, run our medical clinic and do countless other tasks, and for donors who contribute the $1.59 we need to serve each meal. Pray that as immediate physical needs are met, our guests will be encouraged to seek out a lasting change in their lives.

Tuesday
Please pray for life transformation among the residents our three recovery programs – The Bowery Mission Discipleship Institute, The Bowery Mission Transitional Center, and The Bowery Mission Women’s Center at Heartsease Home. Pray especially for those entering the program as they adjust to a new life, and for those about to graduate, for the courage to complete the program.

Wednesday
Please pray for the graduates of The Bowery Mission’s recovery programs as they seek to maintain stable housing and a stable job in the midst of many obstacles, injustices and temptations. Pray that each alumnus or alumna will be able to maintain his or her commitments to sobriety, family, and faith.

Thursday
Please pray for the children in our Kids With A Promise programs as they navigate childhood in some of New York’s toughest neighborhoods. Pray for their lives would not be limited by poverty, violence and under-funded, ill-equipped schools. Pray that Kids With A Promise will be able to reach these children through our summer camp and mentoring programs and to share God’s promises for their life.

Friday
Please pray for all of our supporters – donors who give sacrificially of their finances, companies and congregations who donate resources and employ our graduates, volunteers who give of their time and talents, and others who are praying for The Bowery Mission & Kids With A Promise. Pray that each one would maintain his or her commitment to our work, and that our supporters would find their lives transformed as they give, serve and pray.  (Find out how you can help.
)

Saturday
Please pray specifically for the staff of The Bowery Mission & Kids With A Promise – chaplains and counselors, career and alumni services staff, cooks and maintenance staff, security guards and operations staff, business and finance staff, development team, human resources staff, and our leadership team – directors at each site, the Vice President and President. Please pray also for our Board of Directors.

For a while, no one knew who Dhaim was, where he was from, or where he was going -- unless he told them.  And he tried to tell anyone who would listen.  Read more
